Crestline is 0-3 against South Central since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Crestline Bulldogs will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the South Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Crestline and five for South Central.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-45, which was the final score in Crestline's tilt against Mansfield Christian last Friday. Crestline was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-21.
Meanwhile, South Central was the victim of a rough 75-50 defeat at the hands of St. Paul on Friday.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Bryan Chaffee, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Gunner Ray was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Crestline's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for South Central, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-5.
Crestline suffered a grim 48-26 defeat to South Central when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Can Crestline avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
