Central Valley Academy and Notre Dame are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Central Valley Academy Thunder will head out on the road to take on the Notre Dame Jugglers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central Valley Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matches -- so hopefully Notre Dame likes a good challenge.
While it was all tied up 40-40 at halftime, Central Valley Academy was not quite Rome Free Academy's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell to the Black Knights 90-86. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (60), Central Valley Academy still had to take the loss.
Central Valley Academy might have lost, but man, Deacon Judd was a machine: he shot 5-for-5 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 42 points and 19 rebounds. Judd is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 20 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tom Jacquays, who scored 12 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, sadly, Notre Dame is still looking for their first win of the season after eight contests. They fell 57-46 to Vernon-Verona-Sherrill on Friday.
Central Valley Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-2. As for Notre Dame, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Central Valley Academy took their win against Notre Dame in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 75-50. With Central Valley Academy ahead 44-19 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
