Baseball Recap: Real Life Christian Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hernando Christian Academy last Thursday, Real Life Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Raptors fell just short of the Riverview Academy of Math and Science Barracudas by a score of 7-6 on Saturday. The Raptors' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Gavin Rose was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Kayden Muniz was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Real Life Christian Academy: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-6 otherwise.

Real Life Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Riverview Academy of Math and Science, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Real Life Christian Academy will face off against Calvary Chapel Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.35 runs per game on average), something the Raptors will no doubt try to take advantage of. Riverview Academy of Math and Science does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
