Alonso has gone a perfect 7-0 against Chamberlain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Ravens will head out on the road to challenge the Storm at 10:00 a.m. Alonso's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Chamberlain's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Alonso fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against East Bay on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 6-5. The Ravens have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Noah Renew got Alonso off to a strong start despite the final result, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Renew has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Ihonathan Perez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Raymond Llanes was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.
Jefferson hit Chamberlain with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Storm lost 12-2 to the Dragons. The Storm haven't had much luck with the Dragons recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Nahz Taylor was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Alonso's record now sits at 1-3. As for Chamberlain, their record is now an identical 1-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Alonso has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chamberlain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Alonso's way against Chamberlain in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Alonso made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
