Soledad extended the longest winning streak in Mission Trail this week by beating Gonzales, 43-28. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Soledad was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Aztecs defeated the Spartans 43-28.
Gonzales' Sergio Baez and Rhett Panziera have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Baez has thrown for 427 yards this season, while Panziera, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has nine catches for 146 yards. Stevenson's Stephen Hotta leads the league in rushing yards with 331.
A big matchup in Mission Trail this week will be when Carmel takes on Marina. The Padres are currently in first, while Marina is in sixth.
Pacific Grove took down Marina 48-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
