Hannah Uhles made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Uhles was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Flowers, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Brookelyn Eilerman was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Carrollton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .647. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in 24 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Marquette Catholic sidestepped Father McGivney Catholic for a 3-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Explorers in their matchups with the Griffins: they've now won three in a row.
Kenna Lievers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Kennedy Eveans was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Dickson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Carrollton pushed their record up to 25-0 with the win, which was their 31st straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Marquette Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Marquette Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Carrollton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Marquette Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Carrollton keep running through batters, or will the Explorers buck the trend?
Carrollton might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Marquette Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
