It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Lakeside Lancers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 85-84 victory over Paloma Valley. The win was familiar territory for Lakeside who now have three in a row.
Lakeside was led to victory by Maurice Turner and Andrew Knudson. Turner dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds, while Knudson dropped a double-double on 27 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Knudson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Trias, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lakeside's victory bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Paloma Valley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
Lakeside will head out on the road to challenge Canyon Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Canyon Springs' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches. As for Paloma Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vista del Lago at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Vista del Lago and three for Paloma Valley.
