The Switzerland County Pacers will face off against the Rising Sun Shiners at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Switzerland County and five for Rising Sun.
Last Saturday, Switzerland County came up short against South Ripley and fell 50-38. While losing is never fun, the Pacers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Raiders are ranked 43rd).
Despite the loss, Switzerland County got top-tier performance from Cam Craig, who went 9 for 21 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Williams, who posted five points and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Rising Sun also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Trinity Lutheran by a score of 65-54.
Switzerland County will have to keep a close watch on Brody Morris and Dj Williams, a pair of players who had a big impact on Rising Sun's prior game. Morris went 7 of 13 en route to 21 points, while Williams went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points and six assists. That was a full 38.9% of Rising Sun's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.
Rising Sun's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Switzerland County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Switzerland County has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Rising Sun struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Switzerland County beat Rising Sun 59-51 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Morris, who went 10 of 24 en route to 28 points.
