Neligh-Oakdale is 7-2 against the Dragons since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Neligh-Oakdale Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Madison Dragons at 7:45 p.m. Neligh-Oakdale is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Neligh-Oakdale struggled with assists on Saturday (the Huskies had 18 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Neligh-Oakdale ended up on the wrong side of a tough 68-43 walloping at the hands of the Huskies. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Neligh-Oakdale in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now lost four in a row.
Chase Furstenau put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That was a full 65.1% of Neligh-Oakdale's points, marking the 13th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Neligh-Oakdale struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They are winless (0-4) when they just don't pass the ball.
Meanwhile, Madison managed to keep up with the Tigers until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Madison's rough 55-30 defeat to the Tigers might stick with them for a while.
Madison's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jose Velez, who scored 12 points along with two steals, and Bodonn Sweeney who scored eight points.
Neligh-Oakdale's record is now 1-14. Madison's record now sits at 9-6.
Neligh-Oakdale came up short against the Dragons in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 46-38. Can Neligh-Oakdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
