The Laguna Beach Breakers had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.1 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 50-7 win over Godinez Fundamental. The result was nothing new for Laguna Beach, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Jackson Kollock continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 325 yards and seven touchdowns. Kollock is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nick Rogers, who picked up 89 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Laguna Beach's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Lakeside and 2-7 Charter Oak (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.6% over those games). As for Godinez Fundamental, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laguna Beach will take on Westminster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westminster will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 459th, while Laguna Beach is ranked 191st). As for Godinez Fundamental, they will head out on the road to face off against Ocean View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ocean View comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
