For the first time this season, Central Bucks East will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to take on the North Penn Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Central Bucks East barely beat Council Rock South the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Central Bucks East put the hurt on Council Rock South with a sharp 17-10 win on Friday. The Patriots not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 8, 2024.
Mike Scafidi looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Central Bucks East got a massive performance out of Tyler Muzsi, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Nolan Behm was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Central Bucks East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, North Penn put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Wilson. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly seven runs.
Jake Nunn looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Waynick, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alex Pyle, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
North Penn pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Central Bucks East, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Central Bucks East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like North Penn struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central Bucks East skirted past North Penn 8-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central Bucks East since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
