St. Anthony has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the St. Mary's Gaels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully St. Anthony's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, St. Anthony's came up short against St. John the Baptist and fell 49-38. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Anthony's has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, St. Anthony's got a solid performance out of Nicolas Vieux, who scored eight points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Connor Mannix, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's scored the most points they've had all season to find success back in December of 2023. They really took it to Academy Charter for the full four quarters, racking up a 95-54 victory at home. With St. Mary's ahead 56-26 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
St. Anthony's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5. As for St. Mary's, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5.
Everything came up roses for St. Anthony's against St. Mary's in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 87-50 win. Does St. Anthony's have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Mary's turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
