West Port waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 57-49 victory over the North Florida Educational Institute Fighting Eagles. Given the Wolf Pack's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Fighting Eagles are ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Port to victory, but perhaps none more so than Calise Smith, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and four blocks. That's the most blocks Smith has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Grant, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 14 points along with five rebounds and four blocks.

West Port is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for North Florida Educational Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Port will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Gainesville at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. North Florida Educational Institute also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Trinity Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
