The Hobart Brickies will take on the Hanover Central Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hobart is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Hobart played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They put the hurt on Highland with a sharp 11-4 win. The game was the first time the Brickies have beaten the Trojans on their field since April 26, 2022.
Aurora Ciesielski made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Ciesielski was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Hobart got a massive performance out of Ladan Weinman, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Weinman has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nora Hornak, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Hobart hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Hanover Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Munster. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since May 6, 2024.
Sienna Stilley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
The victory got Hobart back to even at 7-7. As for Hanover Central, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 7-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Hobart hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hanover Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Hobart might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Hanover Central when the teams last played back in April. Will the Brickies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
