Softball Game Preview: Morningside Academy Eagles vs. Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds

The Morningside Academy Eagles will face off against the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Morningside Academy put the hurt on Calvary Chapel Academy with a sharp 11-2 victory. Morningside Academy hasn't had any issues with Calvary Chapel Academy recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Leigha Race made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Race was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing six bases while going 3-for-3. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alisiya Luque was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Reghan Wilbur was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Morningside Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Chapel Academy only posted an OBP of .286.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Park Academy never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Westwood 12-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Greyhounds have posted since March 26, 2024.

Lincoln Park Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Morningside Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
