3A Region IV District 32 recap October 22, 2013
Port Isabel added to the longest winning streak in 3A Region IV District 32 this week by beating La Feria, 62-14. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Hidalgo scaled the state rankings by moving to 794 from 876 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates climbed the ranks as a result of beating Rio Hondo 20-12.
Eli Pitones put up the best numbers through the air as the Bobcats lost to Hidalgo. He had a total of 7 completions for 110 yards. Pitones' favorite target this week was Joey Montalvo, who caught 6 passes for 105 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Rio Hondo's Pitones and Isaiah Valladarez have proven to be a lethal combination. Pitones has thrown for 1,071 yards this season, while Valladarez has 21 catches for 288 yards. Jaime Gonzalez from Port Isabel leads the league in rushing with 775 yards.
An important game coming up in 3A Region IV District 32 this week will be when Monty Stumbaugh's team takes on Taihi Jones' team. As it stands, the Tarpons are in first, while the Pirates are in fourth.
Port Isabel took down the Lions 62-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Isaiah Martinez ran for 151 yards in the win.
