Even though the Norland Vikings scored an imposing 67 points on Thursday, the First Assembly Christian Crusaders still came out on top. First Assembly Christian managed a 71-67 victory over Norland. Given First Assembly Christian's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fourth in Tennessee, while Norland is ranked 29th in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Norland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Triston Wilson, who scored 27 points along with five rebounds, and Marcus Allen who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The game was Allen's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Karon Hill, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
First Assembly Christian's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Norland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
First Assembly Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Evangelical Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Norland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Tampa Catholic at 4:45 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Tampa Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
