Last Friday, Fort Elliott was the victim of a tough 73-51 defeat at the hands of Follett. Fort Elliott has struggled against Follett recently, as their contest last Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but McLean ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Kelton out 30-28. The victory was just what McLean needed coming off of a 69-23 loss in their prior contest.
McLean relied on the efforts of Jayvon Salazar, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, and Caleb Steward, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Salazar has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last ten times he's played.
Fort Elliott has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for McLean, their win bumped their record up to 6-15.
Fort Elliott ended up a good deal behind McLean when the teams last played back in February of 2023, losing 65-49.
