The West Albany Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Silverton Foxes at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, West Albany put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They never let Crescent Valley get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.
West Albany got a massive performance out of Kodi Carapinha 2026, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Carapinha 2026 hit this season. Amelia Kidd 2026 was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
Carapinha 2026 wasn't the only one making solid contact: West Albany kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for the Bulldogs: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.8.
Silverton hadn't beaten Corvallis on the road since April 11, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Foxes blew past the Spartans 21-0. The result was nothing new for the Foxes, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Mckenzee Petersen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Houts, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Paisley Rains, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
The win made it two in a row for West Albany and bumps their season record up to 3-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Silverton, their record now sits at 6-4.
Silverton's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. West Albany has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Silverton, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 strikeouts. Will West Albany keep running through batters, or will the Foxes buck the trend?
West Albany couldn't quite get it done against Silverton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
