Skyline extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-7. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brighton Bengals. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bengals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Maya Jacobsen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Isabelle Rupp and Abigail Wright did some serious damage despite the final result: Rupp went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Wright got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jaya Patal, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Brighton, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-7 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
Like Skyline, Brighton also got a great game from a two-way player: Paisley Gallegos. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Gallegos was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brighton got a big performance out of Peyten Bowers, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Bowers has posted since back in April of 2025. Paula Zamora was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Coming up, Skyline will take on Jordan at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Brighton, they will head out on the road to challenge Bountiful at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
