The Poteau Pirates and the Blanchard Lions squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Poteau Pirates had to settle for second. They fell 26-14 to the Lions. Poteau's defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Leading Blanchard to victory were Carson Cooksey and Hudsen Periman. Cooksey threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, while Periman picked up 72 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Poteau's loss dropped their record down to 12-1. As for Blanchard, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Poteau does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Blanchard will face off against Wagoner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Wagoner: 9.4, Blanchard: 13.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
