The Alexander Cougars lost against the New Manchester Jaguar back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The matchup between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Alexander falling 57-40. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with New Manchester: they've now lost seven in a row.
Alexander lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isabella Italiano, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Italiano has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Alexander's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for New Manchester, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alexander will take on Newnan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Newnan has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for New Manchester, they will play host again and welcome Douglas County, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Douglas County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 204th, while New Manchester is ranked 40th).
