They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over the Athenians. Considering the Red Devils have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Molly Mansfield was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Eleanor Hurt was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Paola Eifler, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
West Lafayette hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.
West Lafayette's record now sits at 9-2. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
