OCALA, Fla. -
West Port (Ocala, Fla.) saw its 22-point lead dwindle to nine, but still managed to hang on and beat
Chiles (Tallahassee, Fla.) 42-33 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, the Wolf Pack led 28-6 at the half.
West Port saw its 22-point halftime lead fall to 15 entering the fourth.
The Timberwolves'
Ben Hatch played well. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
The victory will ease some of the sting of WP's close 24-21 loss to Chiles last season.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Ocala school, which lost to Lincoln last week, 39-0.
In a 7A District 1 game next week West Port (4-4) takes on Buchholz, and Chiles (3-6) will go up against West Florida in a non-conference game.
