Basketball Recap: Archer Piles Up the Points Against Grovetown

A well-balanced attack led Archer over Grovetown in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Archer Tigers blew the Grovetown Warriors out of the water with a 63-33 final score. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Grovetown saw an underclassman step up: freshman Layla Brinson went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brinson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Cavalier, who posted ten points.

Archer's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Grovetown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Archer and Grovetown should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Archer (ranked 19th) will meet Rockdale County (ranked 229th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Grovetown will square off against Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 175 places (106 vs. 281).
