It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Adair County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Washington County Commanders 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since May 2, 2024.

Jagger Kemp made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Adair County got a big performance out of Brody Brock, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Brock a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryce Russell, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Adair County lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington County didn't launched any home runs.

Adair County pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Washington County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Adair County will head out to square off against Larue County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Washington County, they will welcome Seneca at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
