The La Jolla Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Canyon Hills Rattlers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though San Dieguito Academy scored an imposing 68 points on Saturday, La Jolla still came out on top. La Jolla managed a 74-68 win over San Dieguito Academy. Given La Jolla's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while San Dieguito Academy is ranked 808th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elijah Vaz continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Michael Contreras was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Meanwhile, Canyon Hills entered their tilt with Crawford with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Canyon Hills took down Crawford 59-44 on Friday.
La Jolla's win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Canyon Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
La Jolla beat Canyon Hills 52-42 in their previous meeting back in May of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Jolla since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
