Even though the Anderson Raptors have not done well against the Walnut Hills Eagles recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Anderson came out on top against Walnut Hills by a score of 62-52. Given Anderson's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Walnut Hills is ranked 593rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Anderson to victory, but perhaps none more so than A.J. Austin-Robinson, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Austin-Robinson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Strausbaugh, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Walnut Hills lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cj Claxton. Despite the final result, he scored 27 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Claxton scored a full 51.9% of Walnut Hills' points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ty Austin, who scored seven points along with three steals.
The victory was the third in a row for Anderson, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Walnut Hills, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anderson will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Loveland at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Loveland is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Walnut Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Kings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Kings' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
