Tyler Groves made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alex VanSickle was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Jake Stephenson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Waynesburg Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
