The Potts Camp Cardinals had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Strayhorn and snuck past 23-20. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Potts Camp also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Strayhorn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hayden Alsup. Despite the final result, he rushed for 256 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown.
Potts Camp's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Strayhorn, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Potts Camp will head out on the road to face off against Coffeeville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coffeeville comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Strayhorn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
