On Saturday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Rappahannock had to settle for a 50-47 defeat against Charles City. Rappahannock has struggled against Charles City recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Westmoreland was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 47-42 to Amelia County. While losing is never fun, Westmoreland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while Amelia County is ranked 169th).
Rappahannock has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Westmoreland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Rappahannock couldn't quite finish off Westmoreland when the teams last played back in January and fell 59-57. Can Rappahannock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
