Chewelah is 9-1 against Kettle Falls since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Chewelah will face off against Kettle Falls at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Chewelah was able to grind out a solid victory over Lakeside, taking the game 13-8. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Luke McGuire looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Ryen McMillan was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Jeanneret, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Kettle Falls won against Republic on Saturday with 28 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Kettle Falls was the clear victor by a 28-1 margin over Republic. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Cody Adams made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Adams was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other batting news, Kettle Falls let Zac Burch and Jaxon Fandery run wild. Burch scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Fandery scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Burch is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Zander Johnson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and three runs.
Kettle Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .654. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Chewelah's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Kettle Falls, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Chewelah took their victory against Kettle Falls in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Will Chewelah repeat their success, or does Kettle Falls has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
