At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bennett Isenburg, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Gochenhour, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Maconaquah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitko only managed eight hits.
Meanwhile, Wabash was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 6-1 to Manchester.
Wabash also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Cooper Long gave up only one earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. Long has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Wabash saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Reed, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Maconaquah pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wabash, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Wabash's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Maconaquah hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313.
