Badger is 1-9 against Elkhorn since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Badgers will welcome the Elks at 4:30 p.m. Elkhorn took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Badger, who comes in off a win.
Badger took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Waterford, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Badgers had just enough and edged out the Wolverines 5-4 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Badgers have posted since April 17th.

Miah Butinas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 18 batters over 11 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Butinas, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Golz, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
Elkhorn couldn't beat Homestead on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Elks fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 6-5.
Ellie Jacobson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Marlee Wester was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Elkhorn's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Badger, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
Elkhorn's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Badger has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Elkhorn, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Badger keep running through batters, or will the Elks buck the trend?
Badger skirted past Elkhorn 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Badgers repeat their success, or do the Elks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
