A District 4 recap October 22, 2013
Velma-Alma's Conner Sullivan rumbled for the longest rushing play in A District 4 this season in his game against Walters last week. Sullivan ran for 94 yards on the play and finished with 101 on the day as his team beat the Blue Devils.
Ringling added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rush Springs, 41-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Velma-Alma's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ty Richardson threw for 51 and 1 touchdown and Alan Beck had 51 yards receiving. On the ground Sarian Smith chipped in 105 yards.
Greg Gothard's team's dynamic duo of Richardson and Beck proved tough for Walters to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Smith was a passing and rushing force as the Comets defeated Glenn Headley's team. Smith's key target this week was Beck, who caught 3 passes for 51 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Bray-Doyle's Cody Watson and Rodney Hall have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Watson has thrown for 519 yards this season, while Hall has 17 catches for 255 yards. Smith from Velma-Alma leads the league in rushing with 537 yards.
The top two teams in A District 4 will face off this week when first place Empire takes on second place Ringling.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Donkeys and Wilson face off next week.
Bray-Doyle lost to Tipton 64-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
