The Pine Ridge Thorpes's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Red Cloud Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Pine Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Red Cloud is ranked 11th).
Back in December of 2023, Pine Ridge was beaten by McLaughlin 67-37.
Meanwhile, Red Cloud put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Spearfish by a score of 63-53.
Red Cloud got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kennedy Fridia out in front who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Fridia is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlan Carlow-Blount, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Pine Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Red Cloud, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Pine Ridge was dealt a bruising 89-25 loss at the hands of Red Cloud in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pine Ridge was down 59-11.
