The Fort Dorchester Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the West Ashley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Ashley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Fort Dorchester, who comes in off a win.
Even though Fort Dorchester has not done well against the Warriors recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Fort Dorchester walked away with a 45-35 win over the Warriors.
Meanwhile, West Ashley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 61-35 loss at the hands of Summerville. While losing is never fun, West Ashley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Green Wave are ranked 21st).
Despite the defeat, West Ashley saw an underclassman step up: Destiny Ladson scored 12 points along with three steals. Lacy Gerald was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
West Ashley struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Summerville racked up 16 assists.
The win got Fort Dorchester back to even at 11-11. As for West Ashley, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-14.
Fort Dorchester strolled past the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 50-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Dorchester since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
