Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newton). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Puckett Wolves 42-8. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their six-point performance the game before.

Newton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jymarques Holder out in front who rushed for 100 yards and one TD on only seven carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 53 yards. Daishon Moncrief also helped with two scores in total.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Newton proved: they limited Puckett to a paltry 2.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Jamarian Brown for the heroic effort on defense: he. Newton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.8.

With the victory, Newton broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7. As for Puckett, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Newton will square off against Richton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Tazayvion Townsend and B.J. Brown. As for Puckett, they will face off against Pelahatchie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
