The game between Lincoln High and Lincoln Northeast wasn't particularly close, with Lincoln High falling 54-36. While losing is never fun, Lincoln High can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Lincoln Northeast is ranked 26th).
Lincoln High's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ayana Owens, who scored 18 points along with three steals, and Aniyah Hicks-robinson who scored seven points along with four steals. Hicks-robinson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Doneelah Washington continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lincoln Northeast, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Washington has scored at least a third of Lincoln Northeast's points. Another player making a difference was Serena Heeren, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Lincoln High bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Lincoln Northeast, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln High will take on Millard South at TBD on Saturday. As for Lincoln Northeast, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Millard North at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Millard North's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
