The Urbana Hawks will head out to face off against the Morgantown Mohigans at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Urbana will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Urbana is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Hurricane, who was ranked seventh in their home state at the time (Urbana was ranked second). The Hawks skirted past the Redskins 12-11.
Kayden Lipscomb was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. Aidan Katz was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Morgantown didn't have quite enough to beat George Washington on Friday and fell 4-3. The loss was the Mohigans' first of the season.
Maddox Boggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brayden Gorby made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kane Williams, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Urbana's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Morgantown, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 10-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Urbana has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Morgantown struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Urbana's way against Morgantown in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Urbana made off with a 14-6 victory. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Mohigans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
