Northern recap October 8, 2013
Corning scaled the state rankings by moving to 391 from 472 this week, the biggest jump in Northern. The Cardinals were able to move up by defeating Lassen 33-22.
West Valley took down Pleasant Valley 50-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brady Casselman ran for 191 yards during the win.
Jake Thomas made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Grizzlies fell to Corning. The 6-foot-2 junior recorded 1 fumble.
Alex Davila provided a threat through the air and on the ground as John Studer's team defeated Lassen.
Davila was a force in the backfield as the Cardinals beat st.jacques tom's team.
Kody Karpinski put up the best numbers through the air as the Eagles defeated the Vikings. He finished with 2 completions for 64 yards and 1 touchdown.
6-foot-0 quarterback Timmy Naylor of Central Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 491. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Franky Shepherd. The Lassen star has 17 catches for 186 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Yreka takes on Anderson. At the moment, the Miners are in first, while the Cubs are in sixth.
Corning made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,253 from 6,629. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 33-22 victory over the Grizzlies last week.
