Cedaredge is 9-0 against Aspen since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cedaredge Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Aspen Skiers at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Cedaredge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Cedaredge beat Byers 52-39.
Cedaredge can attribute much of their success to Carley Malinowski, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Malinowski has scored at least 25% of Cedaredge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Denison, who scored 10 points along with 5 assists.
Meanwhile, Aspen's game on Saturday was all tied up 10-10 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They secured a 23-17 W over Steamboat Springs. The victory was just what Aspen needed coming off of a 54-16 defeat in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aspen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Fiona Benvenuto, who scored 4 points along with 7 rebounds. Madeline Lee was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
The losses dropped Cedaredge to 1-1 and Byers to 0-2.
Everything came up roses for Cedaredge against Aspen when the teams last played back in February as the squad secured a 42-12 victory. Will Cedaredge repeat their success, or does Aspen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
