The Springstead Eagles won the last time they faced the Citrus Hurricanes, and things went their way on Friday too. Springstead claimed a resounding 68-31 win over Citrus on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Springstead has managed all season.
It was another big night for Austin Nicholson, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Springstead's points. Another player making a difference was Niko Cordello, who scored 18 points.
Despite the loss, Citrus still got an impressive performance from Landon Gibbs, who scored four points along with nine rebounds. Gibbs set a new season high mark in steals with two.
Citrus struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Springstead is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Citrus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Springstead will be playing in front of their home fans against Lecanto at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Citrus, they will head out on the road to face off against South Sumter at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. South Sumter is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
