The Northeast Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Central Private 73-44 on the road. Given Northeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Central Private is ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Brian Duncan, who scored 34 points along with five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Northeast's points. Another player making a difference was Jeromone Sampson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Northeast and bumps their season record up to 12-5. As for Central Private, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Southern Lab at 4:30 p.m. on January 5th. Southern Lab has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Central Private, they will head out on the road to face off against False River at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. False River will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
