After both having extra time off, the Vance Charter Knights and the Eno River Academy Bobcats will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Vance Charter is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Louisburg just ended the team's five-match winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 3-0 to the Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered since October 24, 2024.
While Vance Charter was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-16, 25-22.
Despite the loss, Vance Charter had strong showings from Karsyn Pernell, who had nine digs and one assist, and Sarah Finch, who had nine digs and one assist.
Clover Garden School typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Eno River Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Grizzlies. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 26-24, 25-22.
Eno River Academy's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Vance Charter, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 15-2.
Everything went Vance Charter's way against Eno River Academy when the teams last played last Tuesday, as Vance Charter made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
