The Wahoo Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Crete Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Wahoo is ranked 66th, while the Cardinals are ranked 58th).
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Wahoo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Malcolm out 46-44. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 12 to 4 on the offensive boards, as Wahoo did.
Wahoo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sidney Smart, who scored 14 points along with two steals and two blocks. Smart has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gretchen Seagren, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Crete only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 28-point they dealt the Warriors on Tuesday. Crete simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Warriors 51-23 on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Crete.
Wahoo's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7. As for Crete, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Wahoo against the Cardinals in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 54-26 victory. With Wahoo ahead 37-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
