D2 District 6 (8 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012
Shelton extended the longest winning streak in D2 District 6 (8 Man) this week by beating Amherst, 72-14. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Bulldogs.
Lawrence-Nelson made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 480 from 563. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 30-12 victory over Axtell last week.
Clayton Stoppkotte and Luke Glenn gave Shelton a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Stoppkotte threw for 35 yards and two touchdowns, while Glenn ran for 143 yards. David Mueller also contributed to the rushing game with 90 yards on the ground.
Tyler Schnitzler provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Kenesaw defeated Wilcox-Hildreth. He completed five passes for 101 yards and also ran for 143 yards. Schnitzler's favorite target this week was Preston Schnitzler, who caught two passes for 58 yards.
Michael Duffy made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Blue Devils bested the Falcons. The junior forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
On the ground, Mike Lowe's team's Glenn has rushed for 931 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jacob Jelden. The Axtell star has seven catches for 218 yards.
The Bulldogs' Glenn is a mere 69 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
