Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Chatham, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 37-23 loss to the Raiders on Friday. Chatham has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Dan River's win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-17. As for Chatham, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Dan River was dealt a bruising 51-10 defeat at the hands of the Cavaliers when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Chatham's Jakiyah Giggetts, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds.
