Mason Sterling Turns in Season-Best Performance
Mason Sterling produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Humboldt to the win on Friday. Sterling rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.
The win for Humboldt keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. Sterling will have a chance to log another big game when he takes on Central Heights on Friday.

Humboldt Wins Seventh-Straight Thanks to Blake Ellis
Blake Ellis's big game helped extend Humboldt's winning streak to seven on Friday. Ellis wasn't messing around, rushing for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 120 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes. The game was his third straight with two or more rushing touchdowns dating back to last season.
On the season, Ellis has thrown 11 touchdowns (and no picks) while averaging 134.9 passing yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after seven games last season, he had nine rushing touchdowns. This year he is already up to 21.

Mathes rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also caught a touchdown. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made four total tackles (3.0 for loss).
For the year, G. Mathes has caught 4 touchdowns while averaging 16.3 receiving yards per game.
