Chewelah is a perfect 9-0 against Reardan since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Screaming Eagles at 2:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chewelah has 11 straight victories, Reardan has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a proper cat-fight when Chewelah took on Medical Lake on Thursday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cardinals. Considering the Cougars have won eight matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Luke McGuire was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple.

In other batting news, Chewelah got a massive performance out of Makai Masuda, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Masuda has been hot recently, having also posted three or more hits the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Bode Katzer, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Chewelah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Reardan fell victim to Chewelah and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 22-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Screaming Eagles were not able to get on the board.
Chewelah's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Reardan, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chewelah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .541. However, it's not like Reardan struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chewelah took their win against Reardan when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 22-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Screaming Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
